This work has as its general aim to argue about some relations between the body and the phenomenon of the monster - teratological or fictional -, trying to evaluate the shocks that the monstrous figure provokes in the models of apprehension of subjectivity mainly constructed on the references of representation and identity. In more specific terms, starting mainly from authors aligned with the philosophy of difference, the paper discusses different possibilities of subversion raised by monstrosity in its relations with the body, such as the ones that occur in the fields of science, culture, gender studies and the politics of subjectivation. In all these versants it tries to emphasize that, when affirming its radical difference, the figure of the monster opens new ways of access to becoming and singularity.
