Pyschoanalytical theory and clinic of psychosis in Freud and Lacan

We will demonstrate that psychosis is a theme approached by Freud, both in its clinical and in its theoretical aspect based on his treatments of neurosis - the basic concept is the mechanism of repression (Verdrängung). The second topic of the function of the mind and the developments of the narcissism theory allow a step forward to be made in the Freudian theory of psychosis. Freud enunciates the determinant structural difference between psychosis and transference neurosis in 1924. The paradigm of repression and its forms of defense is finally abandoned as the model of clarification of the psychotic phenomena. Its specific mechanism will be redefined as rejection (Verwerfung). Lacan names this mechanism as foreclosure of the Name-of-the-father and its lack explains the absence of the subject of enunciation. In the absence of this symbolic mediator, the sexual difference does not organize itself under the item of phallic logic and castration complex.
