Relationship between monoliguals and bilinguals' creativity, inteligence, and self-concept

This study aimed at analyzing the relationship between creativity, intelligence and self-concept with bilingual and monolingual students. The study had the participation of 269 students, male and female, adolescents and adults from a private English Binational Center in Brasília. The instruments used included the Torrance Test - TTCT, the TNVRA, a Non-Verbal Intelligence Test, and a Self-concept Factorial Scale - EFA. Higher scores in verbal and figural creativity and intelligence were obtained by bilingual students when compared to monlingual students. The results also indicated that male sytudents presented higher scores than female students in verbal originality measure. No differences were observed between adolescents and adults concerning creativity, intelligence and self-concept. A positive correlation was observed between creativity and self-concept for bilingual students.
