The DELPHI method: characterization and potentialities for educational research

Abstract

This article introduces and discusses the Delphi method and its applications in education. It is a method with enormous potential as a methodological tool, widely used in research of various fields of knowledge, but still poorly used in Brazil. Therefore, it seems relevant to broaden the discussion about its potential, in order to subsidize its use both in research in education and in educational planning and management. Thus, through a narrative review of the literature, its characteristics and assumptions are presented, and its implementation and analysis process are described. Furthermore, the main advantages and disadvantages of the method are discussed, the most common applications are described, and the potential for research in education is pointed out.
