Product development using the MCDA-C approach

The goal of this study was to build an assessment model that assists in managing the product development of home appliance companies. The work adopted the form of a practical, exploratory case study that uses a qualitative-quantitative approach. The data for the problem structure were collected directly from the manager of a food preparation department and were complemented by document analysis. The multicriteria decision aid constructivist approach (MCDA-C) was used as an intervention tool, allowing a decision maker in this context to view the criteria that must be accounted for during the cooktop evaluation process and to enable ordinal and cardinal measurement of cooktop performance, thereby aiding in decision-making related to such products’ project development. The authors decided to focus on a specific criteria of the model, usability, to aid in the understanding of these concepts.
