The present article aims to present the use of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) in logistics operations, specifically, storage. The area of this study is the administration of the Information Technology, with emphasis in the strategic use of the referred technology. The method has a qualitative nature, consisting of a bibliographical revision on the subject and a field research accomplished through case studies. It could be observed that WMS allows to activate the operations and to control with more details the entrance and the expedition of goods. Faced with that, the conclusion is that, in spite of an initial investment considered high for small companies, it is muffled because the firms obtain benefits, such as the reduction of costs and of wastes.
