Abstract
This article focuses on the debate about the difficulties in building the political struggle in contemporary Brazil, more specifically in the last years of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva government. From the dialogue between radical and plural democratic theory - developed by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe - and the stances of representatives of different Brazilian groups of social movements, we seek to discuss two ways of resistance of the hegemony to other possibilities of social objectivity, which we call hegemonic expansion and “purging differences”. The discussion contributes to the analysis about political strategy in social psychology.
