The work in contemporary society: the senses attributed by children

In order to investigate the senses that children attribute to work, establishing connections to their daily life context and the contemporary working world, it was applied, to seven children, a semi-structured interview and a drawing. The information was submitted to content analysis. After the analysis, it emerged in the speeches these categories: activities or working places, remuneration, hierarchical relationships, friendship, fatigue. The senses of work were linked to the everyday lives of children and the capitalist discourse about the work. Thus it is recommended discussions about work with children, exploring work as a relation of dual transformation between man and nature, as a humanizing condition, especially because the subject is constituted through the work.
