DICTATORIAL CHILE’S PROBLEMATIC CHILD ACCORDING TO A WOMEN'S MAGAZINE

Abstract

This article aims to explain the complex relationship between problematic children and women as caretakers and guardians, as well as the relationship between the notions of problematic children and the Attention Deficit Disorder, from a critical discursive perspective. To this end, the issue of problematic children was discussed by the field of Psychology in a high circulation women's magazine in Chile during 1983 and 1989, and such discussions were reviewed. Among the results, one can note how women and children remain on the side of domination and subalternity of the adult male and the Psychology field, where disciplined bodies take a preponderant place. This article ends with a hypothesis about the protective role of Psychology’s diagnosis in the violent environment of the dictatorship.
