Security, danger, biopolitics: three sides of a new practice of power over individuals

Foucault's questioning about the judicialization of contemporary societies refers to several controversial issues taking place between 1974 and 1976: they specifically concerned the question of the living as well as his connection with the area of law and political institutions. These arguments focused on sensational legal cases but also on a political and technical discourse welcoming the notions of dangerousness, security and the wider question of managing the living. Three discourses which reveal for Foucault a deep change in the society and in the way individuals are governed.
