THE COMMUNITY IN SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS OF VIOLENCE

ABSTRACT

The present article proposes a theoretical study of the violence like object of the social representations from the conception of the community. This category is not analyzed alone from the traditional notion of the community as geographical space but explained as quality or social bond of symmetry or asymmetry. For it, classic articles were revised on these categories as well as articles of arbitrated magazines and reports of scientific communities or investigative centers preferably published in the last ten years. The budgets of the theory of the social representations, the conceptual foundations on violence and the postulates of the community in their historical development are examined. The violence is analyzed as object of social representation as long as fragmentation of the social bonds or expression of the potentiality of the community in three gradations: the community in it, the community for it and the community in emancipation.
