Pensar a categoria identidade e sua utilização na Psicologia Social implica a necessidade de rever alguns pressupostos epistemológicos. A concepção surge simultaneamente na Antropologia e na Psicologia, como "corpus" teóricos que emergem num determinado momento histórico, com respostas diferenciadas à problemática do agir humano. O desenvolvimento da categoria foi caracterizado por aproximações e distinções irregulares entre as ciências humanas e sociais, visando demarcar campos de saber que hoje não se sustentam mais isoladamente. Propõe-se uma exposição que analise os limites e as imbricações construídos na utilização da categoria, nas ciências sociais, visando compreender como os novos registros empíricos e teóricos da questão se produziram. A análise aponta para uma reflexão sobre o caráter interdisciplinar fundante da categoria, assentada numa opção metodológica que possibilite superar os parâmetros ainda rígidos que demarcam fronteiras entre os campos de saber nas ciências sociais, entre elas, a Psicologia Social.

To think on the identity's category and its application in Social Psychology lead to a review of some epistemological presuppositions. The concept appears simultaneously in Anthropology and Psychology, as a theoretical "corpus" that emerges at certain historical moment, with distinguishable answers to the problematical of human attitudes. The development of the category was characterized by irregular approaches and distinctions between the Human and Social Sciences, aiming to demarcate fields of knowledge that do not support themselves separately any more. It is proposed a discourse that analyses the limits and imbrications built in the utilization of the category in Social Sciences, aiming to understand how the new empiric and theoretical records of the question were produced. The analysis points towards a reasoning upon the interdisciplinary character that is in the basis of the category, based on a methodological approach that allows overcoming the rigid parameters that delimit the borders between the fields of knowledge in the Social Sciences, including the Social Psychology

Os grupos sociais categoriais são alvo, desde o pós-guerra, de uma intenso esforço de compreensão e demarcação conceitual, principalmente por parte dos psicólogos sociais europeus. A ampliação desta importância na pauta dos pesquisadores se deve ao aumento da presença relativa deste tipo de grupo no cenário das relações sociais e de suas conseqüências na produção das identidades sociais. Neste trabalho indicamos como o crescimento da importância dada aos grupos categoriais acompanha o esvaziamento progressivo do imaginário dos grupos, que passam a operar socialmente menos a partir das relações efetivas entre os indivíduos que os compõem e mais pela sua borda, isto é, o nome do grupo. Chamamos de grupos-nome a esses grupos virtualizados, que não têm presença material mas apenas imagética. Os grupos-nome tendem a ser mais freqüentes do que os grupos "vivos" na medida em que facilitam um relacionamento mais descompromissado entre os indivíduos e portanto mais confortável pela facilidade com a qual os indivíduos poderiam "trocar" de grupo social. Como efeitos da incidência dos grupos-nome destacam-se a transformação dos grupos face a face, a ampliação de mecanismos de controle e manipulação social e o incremento da violência.

Categorial social groups have been studied with more interest by the European social psychologists after Second World War. This research has been supported on the increase of this kind of group in the reality of social relations and in its effects on production of social identities. In this work we indicated how the importance of the categorial social groups goes along with the imaginary group fainting. Groups have become outline presences than organizations based on relations. We nominated name-group these virtual groups, which doesn't have organic but only imagetic existence. Nowadays, name-groups are more common than "live" groups and this contributes to unreliable individual relationships and also makes possible people move to another group like changing clothes. Effects of name-group incidence are the least presence of "live" face to face groups, the ampliation of social control mechanisms and the growth in social violence.

Neste artigo discutimos as possibilidades que a perspectiva dos Estudos Culturais abre para a pesquisa em Psicologia Social e, de forma mais específica, para a temática da paternidade. Questões relativas à construção das identidades e à importância da mídia neste processo são discutidas. A paternidade é aqui concebida como uma construção social que acompanha o caráter flexível das demais posições identitárias. A análise de um comercial de televisão é apresentada e mostra como diferentes aspectos da cultura contemporânea se atravessam e mesclam com a temática pai.

In this article, we discuss the possibilities that the perspective of Cultural Studies open for the research in Social Psychology, more specifically, for the paternity´s thematic. Questions related to the identities construction and the media importance in this process are discussed. Paternity here is conceived as a social construction that follows the flexible character of other identity positions. The analysis of a television advertising is presented and shows how different aspects of the contemporary culture cross over and mix with the father´s thematic.

Este ensaio descreve alguns acontecimentos que revelam formas pelas quais o preconceito é veiculado. Em seguida, teço comentários acerca de algumas condições históricas para o desenvolvimento do preconceito. Ressalto, na análise, o projeto epistemológico da modernidade que, apoiando-se num pensamento metafísico, voltou-se para a busca de certezas, desenvolvendo horror à ambivalência, determinando uma busca obsessiva pela classificação e a ordem. Considero este um terreno fértil para a constituição de subjetividades voltadas para a exclusão do diferente e, em decorrência, para o desenvolvimento de estereótipos negativos acerca da população negra, que subsistem até hoje, além de situações concretas de desqualificação social desses brasileiros. Tais processos tendem a ampliar ainda mais os contrastes econômicos e sociais, situações incompatíveis com o país que desejamos construir. Na seqüência ressalto um processo favorecedor do desenvolvimento de uma identidade afrocentrada, uma das condições para a reversão do preconceito.

This essay describes some incidents that disclose how prejudice is transmitted. After that, I argument about some historic conditions that promote the expansion of prejudice. I stand out the epistemological project of Modernity which, supported in a metaphysical thought, looked for certainties, developed horror to ambivalence and determined a obsessive search for classification and order. I consider this a fertile field to the constitution of subjectivities that exclude the different. So, this process develops stereotypes about black people, besides real situations of social disqualification of this Brazilians. These processes tend to amplify the economics and social contrasts much more. These are incompatible occurrences in a country that we whish to construct. Finally, I emphasize a favorable process to the development of an afro-centered identity, one of many conditions to the prejudice reversion.

Nosso objetivo é compreender a situação da instituição psiquiátrica hoje, quanto ao perfil da população internada e quais as suas perspectivas face aos questionamentos e propostas do movimento de reforma psiquiátrica e luta antimanicomial. O projeto foi desenvolvido em uma instituição de Bauru/SP, com a população feminina ali internada. Foi realizada a caracterização da amostra, a partir dos dados constantes do sistema de registro utilizado pela instituição, anotando-se as seguintes variáveis: idade, estado civil, escolaridade, naturalidade, ocupação, local de moradia e diagnóstico. Foi feita a análise quantitativa e qualitativa dos dados coletados. Constatou-se que a função principal da instituição psiquiátrica continua sendo a exclusão. A necessidade de construção dos modelos substitutivos em saúde mental que valorizem a integridade e promovam a cidadania, torna-se a única possibilidade de resistência do movimento antimanicomial.

The aim of this study is to understand the situation of the psychiatric institution today, with respect to the profile of the interned population and its perspectives face to the questions and proposals of the psychiatric reform and anti-asylums' movement. The project was developed in an institution at Bauru/SP, with interned women. The characterization of the sample was realized from the data of the registration system used by the institution, enrolling the following variables: age, civil status, education, naturalness, occupation, local of dwelling and diagnosis. It was made a quantitative and a qualitative analysis of the collected data. It was verified that the principal function of the psychiatric institution continues to be exclusion. The single possibility of resistance of the anti-asylums' movement becomes the necessity of construction of substitutive mental health's models that value people integrity and promote citizenship.

este artigo tem por objetivo apresentar uma análise das repercussões das mudanças no psiquismo em trabalhadores que desempenham a função de caixas de um grande banco estatal brasileiro em processo de reestruturação produtiva, com uma atenção particular às formas de mobilização da inteligência, da personalidade no trabalho e na utilização de estratégias coletivas de defesa para enfrentar o sofrimento. Foi utilizada para a pesquisa e a análise dos dados, a metodologia da Psicodinâmica do Trabalho, disciplina que estuda em que situações as condições organizacionais determinam o sentido e a mobilização subjetiva no trabalho, e também as repercussões dessas condições sobre a saúde dos trabalhadores. Foi constatado que a mobilização psíquica provocada pelas mudanças é intensa, a partir de sentimentos de insegurança, estranhamento, desorientação e impotência diante das incertezas das propostas da empresa, sendo a perda do contato com o cliente uma das maiores fontes de sofrimento para o grupo. Há um sentimento de desvalorização, manifestado nas queixas sobre o achatamento salarial, na perda do status que a função proporcionava e na desestruturação de um saber acumulado ao longo dos anos de exercício da função. O sofrimento psíquico dos caixas, provocados pelas reestruturações no trabalho, atingem níveis preocupantes, pois as novas formas de organização do trabalho estão destruindo a imagem do caixa como um profissional e reduzindo a possibilidade de serem reconhecidos pelo exercício da atividade.

The objective of this article is to study the consequences in the work in Brazilian banks after the deep changes, mainly after the implementation of the economical plan from 1994 - "Plano Real". In their efforts to adapt themselves to the new economical contingency of the country and to the increase in competition in this sector, the banks have restructured their organisations, downsized their staff, replaced workforce for computerizing systems which allow the treatment of data using less workers. These changes have not occured without consequences for the workers. These people have had to adapt themselves to the new situation, to the increase of pressure of work, of the exposure to risks and, to the end of job stability. Based on a research carried out with cashiers from a bank, an analysis of the repercussion of those changes for the workers' psyche was done with particular attention to the ways of the mobilization of intelligence and of their personality in the work and in the use of collective strategies of defence to fight the suffering. In order to carry out the research and to analyse the data, we have used the theoretical and methodological approaches of the Psychodynamics of Work, a subject which studies in which situations the conditions of the organisations determine the direction and the subjective mobilization in the work as well as the consequences of those conditions on the workers' health.

Nessa sociedade que se reproduz em torno da dominação, a psicologia traz, como disciplina parcelar, a possibilidade de voltar-se para a contenção da violência e a tendência de repor os elementos da barbárie. Faz parte desta última, mascarar os fatores objetivos que a determinam e, o contrário, reside em pesquisar as condições subjetivas que sustentam a irracionalidade objetiva,com clareza de que crítica ao conhecimento deve ser crítica da sociedade. A psicologia fica sem respostas e não sabe, resignada em não investigar a dialética que desvela o antagonismo social, de seu propósito tal como é remetido na frase de Adorno no texto escrito em 1955 e indicada como título deste ensaio. No específico, mesmo cego ante a totalidade que o compõe e que constitui, encontra-se traços da verdade do progresso como denúncia do que pode mas não foi efetivado. Alcançar a liberdade e a felicidade faz parte da tarefa objetiva de superar os ditames da autoconservação. Entretanto, os homens encontram-se impotentes e resistir significa conhecer os limites da prisão. É ideológico atribuir à psicologia o trabalho direto com o sofrimento; deve-se combater aquilo que causa o sofrimento e não manter as formas de ilusão.

In a society that reproduces itself within a domination pattern, psychology as a multisided discipline provides the possibility of containing both violence and the tendency of replacing barbarity. The latter masks its self-generating objective factors, whereas its opponent searches for the subjective conditions maintaining the objective irrationality, and so understands that the critic of knowledge must be the critic of society. Psychology has no answers and at the same time refuses to investigate the dialectics that would uncover social antagonism, in the way that is indicated in Adorno's sentence, written in 1955, that is the title of this essay. Although being completely blind about the elements generating totality, one might find signs of truly progress indicating that, although something was possible, it was never brought to be effective. Reaching freedom and happiness might be an objective task in a way to overcome rules of self-conservation. Nevertheless, human beings find themselves completely lost and the only possible way of resist rests upon knowing the limits of prison. The thought that psychology should be responsible for working directly with suffering is ideological; it is necessary to struggle against what produces suffering and not to create ways of maintaining the illusion that the suffering does not exist.
