Educational Practices and Indicartors of Anxiety, Depression and Maternal Stress

ABSTRACT

Positive and negative parenting educational practices of 100 mothers of babies with and without indicators of anxiety, depression and stress were compared. In this study the Inventory of Parental Styles of Baby's Mothers, the BDI-III, STAI and ISSL were administered. Groups with and without the presence of indicators and with different amounts of indicators were compared using the Student's t-test. Mothers without any of the evaluated emotional indicators were considered as a control group. The presence of the negative practices Inconsistent Punishment and Relaxed Discipline was observed in all evaluated indicators. The results indicate that the presence of two or more increased the frequency of negative practice Inconsistent Punishment. Identifying the type of educational practices can contribute to more efficient punctual interventions.
