Women in the world of work: women's action at industry for the occupation and the democratization of public and private spaces

This article consists of a piece of a study on the meanings of work and on the technical clothing course in the Divinópolis/MG's women's life, whose professionalization is tied to CEFET/EnED's post-technical clothing course at Divinópolis/MG. Three focal groups were proposed. The first focal group was composed by first-year-students of the technical clothing course; the second group, by women who have graduated in the same course; and the third group, by women from the previous two groups. The transcriptions of the group discussions were submitted to discourse analysis. The analyses suggest that this profession feminization and the feminine work devaluation are related to the classical division public-private. Perceiving feminization as a product of social constructions may hinders the organization of a working women movement, including the clothing sector, in searching of adequate remuneration and acknowledgment of their work.
