Challenges of Psychological Assessment practice in the face of professional performance mediated by information technology

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to reflect on the challenges for the practice of Psychological Assessment mediated by Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ITCD). This theoretical work was based on three points, i.e., ITCD as tools that permeate the functioning of society; the exponential increase in the use and regulation of ITCD in the practice of psychological assessment; and the limitations, potentialities, and possibilities for actions to qualify ITCD-mediated practice. Two actions were considered, i.e., the importance of conducting a national survey with psychologists and society about the perception of the process and the results of psychological assessment mediated by ITCD, and the need to rethink the basic and continuous training of psychologists for the development of competencies that enable an ethical, technical, scientific, and critical practice of Psychological Assessment mediated by ITCD.
