Life satisfaction and dyadic satisfaction: correlations between constructs of well-being

Scientific literature points out that married people tend to be happier than non-married people. The objective of this present study was to investigate the relationship between life satisfaction and dyadic satisfaction among married people. 106 married people (53 couples), with an average age of 42 (sd=11), participated in the study. The following instruments were used: demographic identification and social classification; Subjective Well-being Scale; and Dyadic Adjustment Scale. Correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that satisfaction with life and dyadic satisfaction are positive and significantly correlated (r=0.20; p=0.04). Based on this finding, the researchers have concluded that people who are generally satisfied with life are also satisfied in the conjugal relationship.
