Open-access O Museu Paulista e a história da antropologia no Brasil entre 1946 e 1956

This paper deals with the history of the Museu Paulista between 1946 and 1956. Its aim is to understand the role of this institution in the field of anthropology during that decade. In order to do so, we investigate the activities pursued by its employees, as well as the relations between these anthropologist and the social sciences research centers in São Paulo. The conclusion shows that, in the first half of the 20th century, German anthropologists had a very significant role in the development and consolidation of the social sciences in Brazil.
