Working capital management: a contribution to the micro and small enterprises in Brazil

This article discusses the importance of the issues of working capital in the management of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Brazil. It presents a review of the concepts of working capital and the importance of MSEs for Brazil economy, plus a discussion on the importance of short-term financial management in the success of small enterprises. Micro and small enterprises are responsible for the generating of formal employment in Brazil and still do not have a formal structure of credit support. The document points out good management of working capital as a relevant factor for the success of micro and small enterprises. The mismanagement of this factor contributes to the high mortality rate of these companies. To succeed, it is important to have a strong entanglement with strategic management, for a definitive solution. Consisting of a recovery of profitability of the company and the repositioning of its cash flow, then micro and small companies may be able to reach the stage of maturity.
