Ranking of the municipalities in the southern region of Brazil: an evaluation based on the criteria established in the Access to Information Act

The Access to Information Act is a fundamental step towards the consolidation of a Brazilian democracy. Among its precepts, there is the obligation of the provision of information on the net about the structure, operation and accountability of the direct and indirect administration agencies/entities and all of those who receive public subsidy. Given its relevance in the present context, this article seeks, from a mixed research, analyze how this law is being implemented by municipalities in the Southern region of the country. From this analysis, it was possible to map the initial effects of law enforcement during its first year of operation and to establish a ranking of websites, considering the compliance of their established provisions.
