Nutrients absorption by seedlings of ipê-roxo (Tabebuia impetiginosa (Mart.) Standl.) in nutrient solution contaminated by cadmium

Seedlings of Tabebuia impetiginosa cultivated in Clark nutrient solution were submitted to the following Cd levels: 0, 22, 44, 88 and 132 µmol/l, arranged in a randomized block design for 60 days. The plants were picked up and separated into root, stem and leaf, which were analyzed regarding Cd, macro, and micronutrient content and accumulation. The results showed that the macronutrient content of the root was reduced, while that of the leaves did not have a significant effect. The Cu, Fe, and Mn contents of the root increased and the Zn content decreased. Root macronutrient accumulation reduced and leaf accumulation was not affected. The Cd content and accumulation in the different parts of the seedlings increased with the heavy metal dose.
