Blastocladiales e Spizellomycetales from the Parque Estadual da Serra da Cantareira, São Paulo, São Paulo State, Brazil

To study the diversity of the Blastocladiales and Spizellomycetales, water and soil samples were collected monthly from June/2005 to June/2006, from the Parque Estadual da Serra da Cantareira, São Paulo State, Brazil. The isolation of these fungi was carried out in laboratory treating the water and soil samples by the baiting technique with cellulosic, chitinous and keratinous substrates, and using fruits submerged in water bodies as baits in the field. From 111 isolations, nine taxa were identified, three belonging to Blastocladiales and six to Spizellomycetales. Karlingia asterocysta Karling and Rozella chytriomycetis Karling are new records for Brazil.
