Editorial note
In the year 2000 the Brazilian Journal of Biology will complete 60 years of continuous publications. This achievement is due to the dedication of Chief Editors, authors and advisors who gave their time and effort to the Journal. Throughout these years a permanent improvement of the publication occurred.
The 60th anniversary volume in November will be a special number with several contributions of scientists working in different fields of Biological Sciences.
The Editorial Board is, at present, working towards a new indexation system, a widespread distribution of the Journal throughout international distribution systems, and an electronic publication.
