LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Guidelines of Aorta

Dear Dr. Coselli:

Let me express our deepest gratitude for your revision of the first Guidelines for Surgical Treatment of Aortic Diseases, from Brazilian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery. For all of us it was an honnor to have had your appreciation and your very consistent comments, which were incorporated in this edition, as well as all the corrections recommended. Dr. Domingo Braile, Editor-in-chief of Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, the Associate Editors, and the members of Editorial Board are very thankful for your dedication to improve our publication, that intends to reflect the modern pratice of cardiovascular surgery in our country.

With admiration and respect,

Dear Dr. Albuquerque:

Thank you very much for your thoughtful note. It was an honor and a pleasure to participate in providing input to you for this project. I apologize again for the lateness of my contribution and wish you much success with your publication.

50 years of CEC

Your editorial "Golden jubilee of cardiopulmonary bypasses in Brazil..." deeply moved me. Not just for what it represents to Brazilians, but to all Latin Americans. It reminded me of my stay with my Mentor Alfonso Albanese together with dear Zerbini in the Hospital das Clínicas, in São Paulo, in the 1960s. Mentor Albanese took the CEC pump, which Prof. Felipozzi had been developing to Buenos Aires and we worked very much with him (Dr. Braile worked in the basement with the future heart valves – do you remember?).

Good luck with the new Internet edition; it is very good and illustrative.

My warmest regards and best wishes of health and happiness

Your work is inestimable.

Thank you

Endovascular

Dear colleagues and friends,

In respect to the responsibility of Endovascular Surgery, Meryt consulted the BMA, who informed him that this area has already been accredited to the Brazilian Angioradiology and Brazilian Vascular Surgery and Angiology Societies in the resolution CFM 1763/05, suggesting that it cannot be accredited to the BSCVS. I think we should not take this for granted. I would like to have your opinions concerning what would be the best thing to do to bring us together and what would be the best way to try to resolve this situation; to both revoke this resolution and to make the BSCVS responsible for endovascular surgery.

All the best,

Eduardo Saadi, Porto Alegre, RS
