Abstract
This study examines the similarities and dissimilarities in the meanings which are attributed to the History, analysis axis and justification of the proposal called body culture, that is contained in the books of the Teaching Methodology of Physical Education (Soares et al., 1992) and Teaching Methodology of Physical Education (Castellani Filho et al., 2009). In this paper it was worked with a general analysis regarding the History, that is equal in the two editions, and also it was dealed with the interviews with the authors which were published in 2009 as a postscript, focusing on the interpretations given by them to the History. Finally, it was concluded that the use of a historical analysis becomes instrument to form an identity history.
