Comparison of defensive and offensive tactical performance of U-17 Soccer players from different positions

Abstract

The study aimed to compare the defensive and offensive tactical performance of U-17 Soccer players from different positional roles. The sample comprises 18 players: 7 defenders, 7 midfielders and 4 forwards. For data analysis and collection it was used the System of tactical assessment in Soccer (FUT-SAT). Descriptive analysis was performed as well as the following statistical tests: Shapiro Wilk, Student's t-test for paired samples, Anova one way, and Cohen's Kappa. Significance level was set to p < 0,05. Defenders and midfielders presented significantly higher values of offensive tactical performance compared to defensive. It is possible to conclude that defenders and midfielders in this sample possess better offensive tactical performance rather than defensive.
