Lots of ink, few results. Can Political Science explain who gets what, when and how?

Abstract:

The starting point of this article is the international debate maintained by Sartori (2004), Laitin (2004), Colomer (2004), Rothstein (2015), Stoker, Peters and Pierre (2015), among others on the public relevance of Political Science. The argument that guides the study is that the answer lies in the articulation between polity, politics, and policies, and between rules, processes and their results. In order to evaluate the development of Brazilian Political Science in relation to these ideas, data were extracted from the Sucupira Platform, referring to a) the scientific production of professors and students, and b) the profile and professionalization of Brazilian Political Science graduates. The results showed a concentration of the research agenda around politics and an endogenous pattern of professionalization of graduates.
