Social capital and democratic development: Porto Alegre (Brazil) and Santiago (Chile)

From the analysis of two South American cases, Brazil, and Chile, the study puts forward new observations about the Social Capital, exhibits a rigorous methodology to propose relations and, for instance, to make contributions for the international research. With an autonomously generated database and through the contributions of the literature on the issue, this study commences with the explanation of some central concepts involved and its operationalization, then moving to the observation of tendencies, in addition to their correlations, and ends with casual relations through regression analysis and examining generalizations about Social Capital.
