Reclamation of salt-affected soils using low quality water

Abstract

With the objective of evaluating the effect of the aplication of leaching depths on reclamation of the salt-affected soils of the “Perímetro Irrigado de Custódia”, in the Pernambuco state, an experiment was carried out in soils columns installed at the hydraulic laboratory of the UFRPE. The treatments were arranged in a randomized block experimental design with a factorial scheme of two soils and six leaching depths (L = 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 e 3.0 of the soil volume pores), with four replications. The water used to the leaching was prepared in laboratory using destillaed water with addition the gypsum. The mean values of the electrical conductivity (EC) of the gypsum solution was of 0.87 dS m-1. In the leachate EC was determined and with the results was evaluated the leaching efficiency. The depth of 2.5 volume pore was adequate for the reclamation of soil salinity, indicated by value of the salt concentration, evaluated by EC, minor who 4,0 dS m-1.
