Performance evaluation of CLIGEN model to generate climatic data for agronomical and hydrological models

Agronomical and hydrological systems evaluation is constrained by the high number of variables involved. Therefore, the use of a model is a desirable solution, which provides quick analysis besides permit that many factors and effects may be considered. For utilization of these models, complete climate database, rarely available in Brazil, is required, and most of the time the existence of number of reports are for a short time, therefore, less representative. For this reason, the objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of CLIGEN model, in generating the climatic elements to utilize as input parameters for hydrological and agronomical models, comparing the generated values of climatic elements with observed. CLIGEN is a climatic data model generator, which has the capacity of producing series of synthetic climatic elements for the use in models to study the erosion and movement of water in soil. In general, CLIGEN model showed a good performance in generating climatic elements.
