This paper discusses the results of a state-of-the-art report on education, gender and sexualities, within ANPEd (Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Educação - National Association of Graduate Studies and Research on Education). To this end, it first presents the study features and the themes brought to discussion. After that, based on the theoretical field of gender studies and the review of Brazilian state-of-the-art studies on gender and education, it comments on the ways the concepts of gender and sexualities were used to select the texts examined. Finally, it highlights some of the findings, beginning in the period before 2000(before the publication on-line of texts on the association website) and approaching more specifically the results related to the period 2000-2006: a still small production, but consistent; there has been a noticeable growth over time; the theme was introduced in few Work Groups at ANPEd; was mostly female-authored; was centralized in some institutions in the South and Southeast of the country and in certain research groups registered in the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
