A numerical estimate for the contribution of the lattice to the specific heat of a crystalline solid is presented. The Monte Carlo method is used such in its original form as in its modern version which explores the reweighting technique to extract more information from each simulation. One reveals how to get continuous plots for quantities like energy and specific heat, in function of the temperature, performing just one simulation at a convenient temperature. For the sake of comparison we present also the pertinent analytical results.
