In this study, we explored the small oscillations of two coupled compasses. The pattern of oscillations and resonance frequencies of the needles is compared with the model of a system comprised by two spring-mass oscillators coupled by a spring. The measurements and analysis are performed on the basis of videos produced under controlled conditions and with the aid of Tracker video analysis software.
