A ESCOLA MÉDICA E SEUS IMPLÍCITOS SOBRE A MORTE

Summary:

The author interviewed students of the Medical School of the UERJ to get to know how they learn to deal with death in their studies.

The results showed that dealing with death is part of their daily learning activities, but the presence of death is rarely discussed colectively. The students learn to cope with death, alone, in accord to a code of seeing and absorling.

The author concludes that the almost rictualistic characther of the tradicional curriculum is related with death and it's taboo.

This might be one of the reasons that explain the difficulties to implement curricular changes, that should be studied and discussed in order to clarity this question.
