This article analyzes the production and the reception of an educational video entitled Anatomy Lesson. We intend to understand which meanings are produced by Medical Psychology students. The video was analyzed, the producers were interviewed and an experimental screening was followed by a group discussion with medical students. The study of the production showed that the video was mainly addressed to medical students. It was intended to provoke discussion and draw attention as to how medical training can produce trauma and distress. The video reception study revealed that the spectators were aware throughout the film of the visual effects used, they did not consider the narrative believable, and they adopted a negotiated ideological position, although they understood the message as expected by the authors and discussed some of the proposed themes.
