AVALIAÇÃO DE UM TREINAMENTO EM FORMAÇÃO CLÍNICA PARA AIDS EM CENTROS NACIONAIS DE REFERÊNCIA

Abstract:

Under the sponsorship of the National Division of STD/AIDS, an evaluation of the clinical training on AIDS delivered by the three Reference Centers - Emílio Ribas (ER), Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and Gaffrèe & Guinle (G&G) - was carried out. The evaluation took into account guidelines set up by the National Comission on AIDS and derived its framework from Stufflebem’s evaluative model (1977). The model comprises four components - Context. Input. Process and Product - which correspond to the aspects to be assessed in the evaluation. Instruments of three kinds were used: (a) interviews with those in charge of the Reference Centers. (b) direct observations by the evaluator, and (c) three paper-and-pencil instruments, i. e., the Knowledge Test on AIDS, the Interpersonal Skills Inventory, and the Course Evaluation.

The scores derived from the trainees’ responses - ER. UFRJ, and G&G - to the Knowledge Test and the Course Evaluation showed no statistically significant differences according to the Kruskal-Wallis method (1975). However, a closer look into particular aspects of the three Center showed positive characteristics as well as aspects deserving improvement. Such data allowed of some extrapolations pertaining to the evaluator, the DNC STD/AIDS, the Reference Centers and the entities responsible for the trainees.
