Patients' perception about practical medical classes: hearing another opinion

Considering the new guidelines for medical education, medical practice needs to be humanized and it is important to discuss the student doctor-patient relationship. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the opinions of patients admitted to a teaching hospital regarding their participation in medical classes (Semiology/General Medicine) of the University of Fortaleza Medicine Course. A cross-sectional study was conducted using a questionnaire with questions about social-economic aspects, diagnosis, length of hospital stay and the patients' perceptions about their participation in medical classes with student doctors. The majority of the patients accepted their participation in medical classes without misgiving and were pleased to be able to help future doctors.
