Trajectories of regional development in Brazil: towards a research agenda

Abstract

The main objective of this article is to consolidate and propose a research agenda focused on the actual regional trajectories of development in Brazil. Such agenda is rooted in my own academic trajectory, specially related to de part that deals with the emergence of new productive spaces in Brazilian non-traditional locational axes of productive activity and manufacture (in other words out of Southern and South Brazilian states). The regional trajectories of development investigation imply consider the economic and non-economic determinants of regional development, as well as the social, political, policy and demography consequences of such development. In order to accomplish this agenda a mixed methods approach, capable to take together quantitative and qualitative techniques, would be the most interest one.
