The performance of mango mono and poliembrionic rootstock to environmental low temperature was observed at Tatuí, SP, Brazil (23º20'S and 47º52'W). The varieties Sensation, Haden and Tommy Atkins were used as monoembrionic rootstock for Haden scion and Coquinho, Manga d'Àgua, Carabao and Pico as poliembrionic rootstock for Haden and IAC 100 Bourbon scions. The grafted plants aging 18 to 24 months were planted in January, 1990. Registered temperatures in the standard weather station reached 1ºC, 2ºC and 2,4ºC in May 19th, 20th and 23rd, 1990 respectively; 1,6ºC, 1ºC and 2ºC in June, 22nd, 23rd and 24th and 1ºC and 2,4ºC in July, 30th and 31st respectively. These temperatures at the weather station are corresponding to temperetures under 0ºC at soil level. The rootstock Carabao survived to those temperatures in spite of the scion. The others rootstocks showed a mortality from 35 to 70%
