The RBF in 2015

The RBF in 2015

We had the privilege of once again be nominated at the XXIII Brazilian Congress of Fruitculture, held in Cuiabá in August 2014 as the RBF Chief Editor. What sustains us to accept this mission is counting with the wonderful team of collaborators that we brought together over the years and who bears the merits of the position reached by the Journal. We believe, however, that we have exhausted all forms of growth in the current "modus operandi" and it is time to think of greater things.

From 2015, the journal will be published in the following versions:

• On CD: only in Portuguese for articles sent by Brazilian authors, increased of articles submitted internationally, by other authors.

• On paper: a small print run to cover indexers, lenders and some libraries.

• Online: in two versions, English and Portuguese or Spanish, when RBF is submitted for publication to www.scielo.br,

Important - It will be under entire responsibility of the authors the payment of the publishing fees 1 and 2, here specified:

Publishing fee 1= To cover the RBF operational expenses, the fee will change from the current R$ 250.00 to R$ 350.00, being R$ 150.00 when forwarding the articles and R$ 200.00 on the respective approvals.

Publishing fee 2= To cover the cost of the English or Spanish versions, distributed as:

For the preparation of the versions R$ 70.00 / page

For the corrections R$ 30.00 / page

• We emphasize that these procedures apply only to the articles approved by the advisers, as follows:

1- For authors with enough fluency in English or Spanish:

1.1- After a preliminary analysis of the article submitted for publication, the authors may be exempted from the publishing fee 2.

1.2- In other cases, they must pay the fee of R$ 30,00 / page for the corrections.

2- For authors who do not have proper fluency: The articles will be sent to experts in the field,

and the authors should pay the publishing fee 2, corresponding to R$ 100.00 per page, where R$ 70.00 will be for the versions and R$ 30.00 for the final corrections.

Regarding the financial aspect, we want to record the support received from Prof. João Pedro Valente, President of the Organizing Committee of the XXIII Brazilian Congress of Fruitculture, held in August 2014 in Cuiabá, charging 10% of the registration fee from the people enrolled in the congress, resulting in a deposit for the RBF of R$ 28,804.10 that we expect will be a standard procedure for the future Congress, as previously foreseen and approved in the SBF Assembly.

We attest our thanks to the outgoing board of the RBF, on behalf of its President, Prof. Abel Rebouças São José for the support always dismissed, and we are confident that the new board in the person of its President Prof. Almy Júnior Cordeiro de Carvalho will do everything to the international consolidation of the RBF.

We are sure that with these measures, we will quickly reach our desired A in the area of Agricultural Sciences, consolidating the projection we hope to achieve.

Jaboticabal, October 31th, 2014.

Best regards,

Prof. Carlos Ruggiero
