Development of banana plants cultivated in a protected environment under the effect of paclobutrazol applied to the leaves

An experiment was carried out following the factorial scheme using five paclobutrazol doses (0; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; and 2.0 g of a.i. plant-1), and two cultivars, 'Prata Anã' and 'FHIA 01' to evaluate the effects of the product applied to the leaves on the development of banana plants cultivated in a protected environment, during the first production cycle. Paclobutrazol did not influence the number of days from planting to flowering and the total foliar area. However, there was a reduction in the number of suckers produced by the plant and in pseudostem circumference, as well as a mean reduction of 20% in pseudostem height.

Musa spp.; growth regulator; suckers; growth analysis
