Selection of progenies of yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa) to fruit quality

To sustain yellow passion fruit cultivation in Amazon it is important to carry out researches activities that aim the development of cultivars tolerant to the major diseases and that produce fruits with good agroindustrials characteristics. The objective of this work was to evaluate passion fruit plant progenies CPATU fine-sheel (CCF) through physical and physical-chemistries characteristics of the fruits, aiming obtaining of plants with desirable characteristics for concentrate juice industry and "in natura" fruit. The study was carried out in 20 progenies from free pollination originating of a population formed by the mixture of seeds from plants selected in the second cycle. Ten fruits were collected by plant to be analyzed based on in the following characteristics: mean weight of fruits; fruit length; thickness shell; percentage of pulp; number of seeds; total soluble solids, titratable acidity (TA); pH and relationship TSS/TA. The data were analyzed through simple statistics, involving averages, standard deviation and variation coefficient. The progenies CPATU fine-sheel (CCF) showed variation for most of the characteristics. The progenies CCF-001, CCF-074, CCF-212, CCF-395 and CCF-430 are suitable for the "in natura" fruit market, while the progenies CCF-192, CCF-281, CCF-391 and CCF-505 are suitable for concentrate juice industry.
