Cold storage of cape gooseberry

This study aimed to evaluate the cold storage of Physalis angulata L. and P. peruviana L. with and without calyx. Fruits were harvested when the external peel color was orange and stored for up to 90 days with and without calyx, under refrigerated conditions at 2±1 ºC and 90±5% relative humidity or 10±1 ºC and 90±5% relative humidity. After storage, fruits were maintained for three days under 22±2 ºC and 70± 5% relative humidity, and evaluated concerning weight loss, external peel color, ratio TSS/TTA, and flesh firmness. Best results were obtained by storing both Physalis species with calyx at 2±1 ºC and 90±5% relative humidity for up to 90 days, and without calyx for up to 58 days.
