Sismoestratigrafia de alta resolução no lago Juparanã, Linhares (ES - Brasil) como base para estudos sobre a sedimentação e tectônica quartenária

High-resolution seismic stratigraphic investigation of the Juparanã Lake, the largest lacustrine body in the lakes system of Doce River lower course(State of Espírito Santo, Southeastern Brazil), was performed, giving the information to discuss the Quaternary lacustrine evolution. Two seismic sequences were identified. The older seismic sequence is characterized by a reflection free pattern, associated with Holocene alluvial sedimentation. The younger seismic sequence is characterized by a parallel pattern of seismic reflections and was associated with lacustrine deposition after the damming of the "old Juparanã alluvial valley". The isopach map of the younger seismic sequence documents an irregular distribution of the lacustrine deposits in three distinct depocenters with relatively abrupt limits suggesting a neotectonic control on the lacustrine evolution.
