Since History has been structured as a school matter, the formation and strenghtness of a national identity feeling became the main goal of its teaching. The issue of brazilian identity was always a problem among intelelectuals and professionals in the first half of this century. The ones who were a part of public organizations, used History as a vehicle to their ideas, that were incorporated by programs and school manuals. These programs and manuals gave a special highlight to brazilian people's formation, Brazil's territorial integrity as well its cultural unity.
