Abstract:
Considering that education is carried out within a universe of activities and social interactions, researchers in the field of History of Education have increasingly turned their gaze to non-school education practices, through which different forms of knowledge and culture development occur in different social groups, as in the case of capoeira. In this sense, this article aimed to investigate the visual artist Calixto Cordeiro, analyzing his production on capoeira, as well as their respective possible contributions to the pedagogical field of the game-fight from a historical perspective. This study demonstrated that Calixto's art, with all the richness of its drawings and legends, can be studied even more, and with this, it can contribute a lot to new reflections and pedagogical perspectives involving the history of capoeira.
