Places to teach: female biographies and teaching history of education

Abstract:

In this text, we aimed to socialize an experience in the use of biographies of women educators in teaching history of education in a Graduate Program in Education. The text also problematizes, from a bibliographical research, the male predominance in the dictionaries and classic works of history of education edited in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is concluded that, by providing students with access to plural histories, women trajectories in history of education were also given visibility. The ideological, political, and social confrontations boosted other perspectives regarding the teaching profession in the history of Brazilian education.
