There is no solid clínical evidence to the effect that the association of fludarabine, cyclophosphamide and rituximab should be the new gold standard for the initial treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients. This combination induces a high complete remission rate that in turn is associated with an increased probability of survival. Prospective randomized trials are needed to see how efficient this combination truly is.
