A detailed study of the thorax morphology and his appendices of adults, males and females, of the following south Brazilian Morphinae species (Lepidoptera, Nymphalidae) is presented: Morpho helenor violaceus Fruhstorfer, 1912, Iphimedeia hercules(Dalman, 1823), Iphixibia anaxibia (Esper, 1801). Cytheritis portis thamyris (C. Felder & R. Felder, 1867), Cytherilis aega (Huebner, 1822). Pessonia catenaria (Perry, 1811). Grasseia menelaus nestira (Huebner, 1821).
