Ethics and the (dis)constituent dimension of civil disobedience: a reading based on Michel Foucault

Abstract

The goal of this work is to analyze the historical experience of civil disobedience movements from their previous ethical exercises which aimed at self-preparation and functioned as a fundamental phase for the practice of the disobedient direct action. For this, we use the reflections of the late Foucault who, in order to think about possibilities of rearticulation of power relations in the socionormative structure, explored in his last writings the need for work on oneself as an ethical condition for a critical attitude and desubjection.
