Authoritarianism and judiciary: the institutional memory on the authoritarian regime

Abstract

The paper analyzes the narratives constructed by the judiciary on the performance of this institution during the authoritarian regime of 1964-1985. Uses primary sources, produced by memorials of common justice. Notes that the official narrative reflects on not the authoritarian legality, not on democratic rupture. It suggests that institutional memory communicates more about the judiciary in the current Brazilian democracy than about the past.
